Unveiling the official 2025 artwork by NPAAW

We are so excited to have a piece by NPAAW be the official artwork of Ubud Open Studios 2025. NPAAW (aka Ngakan Putu Agus Arta Wijaya) is an Bali-born artist. His work explores the possibilities of art beyond two dimensions. He uses a variety of materials, including spray paint and paper tape, to create unique patterns. For us, we can see the traditional poleng cloth in his work, as well as echoes of slit tapestry rangrang. His work might seem modern at first glance but has deep roots in his heritage. All of which made his work a perfect fit for creating a strong visual identity for the 2025 edition of Ubud Open Studios!

NPAAW on his Ubud Open Studio experience: "My first experience with Ubud Open Studios was right when I moved from my old style of painting to the new one. From Ubud Open Studios lots of people saw my work and explored my Instagram. I asked people, where did you find out about my work? They replied, I saw it at Ubud Open Studios. After that I had a lot of commissions and appreciation, and then offers for exhibitions for the new works, not the old ones. The effect was immediate. After Ubud Open Studios, I had lots of exhibition offers with the new style. Not bad! Very good. My primary goal, and why I was excited to join Ubud Open Studios, was how to reach an audience and art enthusiasts outside my circle."
